How does it feel to have a regulated nervous system?

We hear a lot about nervous system disregulation. But what does it feel like to be in a stage of regulation?

When your nervous system is regulated, you generally feel balanced and in control. Although this can feel different for all of us, to me it is the feeling I get from my yoga practice, more peaceful, more able to make good decisions and to respond to situations.

Here are some signs that your nervous system is functioning well:

  1. Emotional Stability: You experience a range of emotions, but they're not overwhelming or erratic. You can manage stress effectively and bounce back from setbacks without feeling overwhelmed.

  2. Physical Well-being: Your body feels relaxed, and you don't experience as much tension or discomfort. Digestion is smooth, and you're generally free from aches and pains.

  3. Cognitive Clarity: You can concentrate and focus on tasks without feeling scattered or distracted. Your memory is sharp, and you're able to think clearly and make decisions effectively.

  4. Balanced Energy Levels: You have consistent energy throughout the day, without experiencing extreme highs and lows. You're able to engage in activities without feeling overly fatigued or wired.

  5. Healthy Sleep Patterns: You fall asleep easily, stay asleep throughout the night, and wake up feeling refreshed. You don't struggle with insomnia or frequent disruptions to your sleep.

  6. Smooth Breathing and Heart Rate: Your breathing is steady and relaxed, and your heart rate remains within a healthy range, even during times of stress.

  7. Ability to Connect: You feel connected to yourself and others, and you're able to engage in meaningful relationships without feeling guarded or detached.

Overall, when your nervous system is regulated, you have a sense of well-being and resilience. You're better equipped to handle life's challenges and enjoy the good moments without being thrown off balance.

Nervous system regulation is a tool that can be learned and practiced regularly. Unfortunately there is so much conflicting and misleading information online about nervous system regulation it can be overwealming to sift through the information and discover where and how to start.

Because of this information overload I have created my own 5 step system which brings us back to a state of calm, balance and ease. I call it the wellness wheel, and it’s what I teach inside my membership Rebalanced and Thriving with Liz.

I know how exhausting it is to try to overcome a sense of nervous system overwealm alone, and this is why I am here to guide you step by step towards a greater feeling of ease and balance in your life and business. Over time, as you work with the simple practices I share, you can build your nervous system back into a state of balance that feels joyful, calm and clear. So that you can thrive in your life and business. I hope you will join me.
